Ministries AssistantMeet Our StaffIn looking back at my second year as Ministries Assistant, I would have to say that it has been one of transition. At the beginning of 2010, we learned that our Pastor would be retiring , and along with him, our secretary (his wife). Shortly after that, our music director stepped down. By the end of the Summer, our custodian left and I became the senior staff member with plenty yet to learn myself. Fortunately, in the past two years, I did learn where all the light switches were and where all the keys are kept, how to fix a jam in the folding machine and how the copy machine worked. God, however, did not leave us to fend for ourselves. He sent us wonderful people to fill all those vacancies and we are once again a team moving forward to do God’s work. In spite of all the changes going on with the paid staff of Good Shepherd, the ministry teams were busy doing road clean-ups, collecting Pennies for Potatoes, contributing to the local food bank, offering grief counseling, supporting special Christmas parties for Foster Families, doing yard work on Change the world Sunday, providing small group opportunities, providing Emergency Preparedness Training for all the ushers and greeters, teaching our youth, and generally keeping the train on the tracks. A new ministry, called the Living Stones , was begun by the Shepherding team to be sure that every one of our members and constituents would be brought before God each day. Each person on this team has a list of people to pray for every day. If you are a member of this group, it must be comforting to know that while you are praying for the people on your list, someone is also praying for you. It has been my joy to serve the ministry teams of Good Shepherd for a second year. With God’s help, I hope to complete some of the projects that were begun this year and work more toward assisting our teams to serve those in our community who need our love and support, offering the healing, help and hope from God that is the mission promised in our vision statement. ~Cindy Edwards Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.
